A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in life long learning and I encourage children to apply themselves to do their very best.I also encourage children to determine what their best learning style is and to apply their learning style to fit their specific needs. For example some children require a more sequential repetitive approach to learning. Other children require a system in which they practice what they know through an oral approach or a hands on approach to learning.
I am currently teaching remedial reading and Math at Mary Immaculate School located in Key West grades k-8 I have taught bilingual students I have also taught high school level students, Biology, Math, Language Arts, Spanish and fine arts My 20 years of experiences has allowed me to work in urban schools, rural schools and in private schools. Almost all students get excited about learning when it is presented in a manner that fits their learning style and is appropriate for their ability/level. Assessment of both is mandatory before you can begin effective and meaningful instruction. Once these assessments are completed, learning objectives should be identified and consistently evaluated. Spiraling curriculum is a strategy that I frequently use with students during tutoring session. It allows a learner to activate their prior knowledge and then build upon it. It immediately allows a sense of accomplishment and confidence. I also utilize several medium in order to ensure my student remains engaged in the learning process.
