I never set out to work with children but after I was hired to be a teacher assistant for young children with autism I can’t imagine doing anything else. I am a very patient person and I strive to bring a light hearted, fun approach to working with students. I believe that learning should be educational but at the same time fun and engaging. Sine high school, I have worked with children in BOCES. However, I started college later in life, after children and marriage. I wanted to provide my children with an education that I couldn't afford since I knew nothing of grants in 1974. I started with my AA and did not stop until I achieved my MS. My education has taught me discipline, research, study habits, and critical thinking skills. Over the past 10 years I have had the pleasure of tutoring over 150 children. While receiving a Teacher Education Certificate, Human Services A.S. and a Sociology B.A., I have committed myself to scholastic excellence. In my work with The Boy's and Girl's Club, Americorps, Y.M.C.A. and the Hispanic Outreach Center I have completed more than 1000 tutoring session; in over 50 Schenectady Schools, community programs and public libraries.
