During that time I spent 3 years tutoring several levels of mathematics and intro to financial accounting for HCCC for 3 years. I went from a student tutor to a part-time tutor in my time there receiving a CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) certificate for my work and a great amount of experience in that time. Tutoring should be a tool used to complement traditional education. When tutoring there is little help in providing information to the student the same way that the teacher presents it. Tutors may also fall into the trap of simply giving the student the answers. For these reasons I prefer an holistic approach to tutoring.
