Experienced. Effective. The logical choice.

As a tutor of student athletes at Indiana University, I tutored students from all walks of life. I began by tutoring Biology and Spanish but the need for tutors in English, Writing, Chemistry and Statistics soon arose and I stepped up to fill those positions. Using previous knowledge from AP classes in high school, as well as recent knowledge gained from my classes, I was able to successfully convey new information in easy to understand and applicable terms to these students. This past year I tutored high school math, English and Genetics.
I have always enjoyed teaching others sharing my love of learning. I find it most effective to use a variety of methods to successfully teach information. I have worked a number of years in Early Childhood, Elementary level of Education, Middle School, and Special Education. I have also worked with children from the age of 6 weeks to 18 years old. I have worked as both a worked as a Para-educator and a teacher in a classroom with students with behavioral disorders. A Little Bit About Me...

Since graduating from the University of Albuquerque, I have worked in the New Mexico Governor's Office and been a guide for a Santa Fe outdoor museum. I also worked at the History Library, which is part of the Museum of New Mexico's Palace of the Governors Museum. In 1993, I was trained in English as a Second Language by Literacy Volunteers of America. I taught English in Japan in 1995. I volunteered as a teacher with the Emily Griffith Opportunity School's ESL program for three years. I have had numerous private ESL students over the past 17 years. Most recently, I spent five months tutoring a German couple in English. I now help two Chinese American boys with their reading and arithmetic.

I volunteer for HOBY (Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar) every year. This program pushes facilitation, which is what I strive to do. I like to try to facilitate and push my students to ask questions and talk to me as a peer. I always try to give at least three compliments to every criticism because students are often too hard on themselves.
