With over 15 years of corporate work history as a Materials Science Engineer I possess a wealth of experience in research and end-use applications. That experience is enhanced by a foundation in mathematics and advanced sciences from the number four engineering school in the nation. I teach by example, leading the student through a problem by asking questions about each step so that they can learn how to approach the problem themselves. I watch and evaluate the students as they work and provide guidence when thy make errors. I enjoy interacting with children of all ages and I do so in a kind and curteous manner. I am a good listener and have the patience and skills to understand where a child needs the most help. In my acedemic training I have taught Lab classes in general, analytical, organic, biochemistry and advanced chemistry courses. As part of my training I have been instructed in Mathmatics to the level of Calculus. I am currently volunteering as editor for ttwo newsletters for non-profit organizations. As a computer science teaching assistant I was often presenting students with their first experience in a new field, as a result, I have adapted a teaching style which draws upon my background in the sciences to offer real life examples and helpful tidbits to further a students understanding. After earning a bachelor degree in Mathematics/Statistics I entered graduate school with the intention of going into the Computer Science field. The style of teaching that I use is experience. I believe that people learn best when they work through and actually practice the issues. For example, in mathematics I believe it is very important to practice math problems. Not to memorize the answers but the memorize the formula for working through a problem. When they are working through the problems I try and answer any questions that they may have, so that they develop speed and accuracy, that way when a test comes they are fully equipped with the skills they need to get a good grade in a relatively quick manor. While attending college I was apart of many different study groups. In such study groups we would teach each other the information we needed to learn.
