My comments on tutoring Spanish : I am not a fancy certified teacher. I don't speak Castilian Spanish, and I don't pretend that the Spanish that I speak is as formal as they speak in Madrid, but I am fluent, and I do know the language. I am new to the field of teaching, and trying to help others while I make a name for myself. I don't promise to make you fluent in Spanish overnight, but with interest and participation from you, I will teach you the Spanish that you need to accomplish your goals.

My teaching style is first of all finding out if the student has some basic knowledge of basic linguistics in the native language. I believe that is essential to be able to teach and learn a second language. If the student doesn't have that basic knowledge then it is important to teach it and that way it is easier to learn the foreign language. Being from a Spanish speaking country the student will be immersed in the culture also. Reading and conversation is very important in addition to learning theory.

My comments on tutoring Spanish : I can help with Spanish at a high school level or below. However, I'm no expert and it would help me if the student has a book.

I worked for ten months as an assistant teacher at a daycare center. I was employed through a program at my high school. My jobs included supervising and joining in with the children's activities. I've also helped children prepare for the FCAT with my church. I've assisted in teaching children their roles for a church play. *I took Spanish 1 and 2 in high school and I know the basics and can help children study for Spanish.

I believe a "hands-on" approach is the best way to retain knowledge given all learning styles. If we do it, we will remember it. If learning is considered fun, we want to do it and all subject areas can have an element of fun. Positive reinforcement within a structured environment is my style of classroom management and it works.
