I hear and I forget. I see and I remember.I do and I get it.

The experience I have gained while studying Education and Psychology, along with administrating exams for Wonderlic Scholoastic Testing and tutoring has enabled me to learn through understanding, hard work and dedication. I have learned through extensive courses in Psychology on how we learn, education courses that break learning down, and working with children and adolescence for over ten years with tutoring and patience, that with the proper tools and guidance, anything can be achieved.
I believe that implementing the right tools, along with clearly stating what the student needs to learn, along with discussion, will ensure student success.Using multisensory resources, creatively using the newly formed knowledge, along with pre-testing will foster memory and recall.

My comments on tutoring Political Science : I have a master's in social studies and I have taught civics and government.

I am an honors graduate of U.S.F. with forty years of teaching experience. In addition to my B.A. and M.A. degrees, I completed all cousework for the ED.D. I have taught FCAT preperation in middle school in math and reading. I have also taught GED Prep in the evenings. I taught junior high math one year. I have also written two books. One is a history jokebook. The other is a memoir of humorous classroom incidents. I believe that these experiences qualify me to tutor social studies, reading, and math.
My style is student centered. I always try to provide a positive atmosphere for learning. My jokes were a technique to help accomplish that goal. As a GED teacher I always began with a pretest and documented student progress to correct any deficiencies. I believe in positive reinforcement and helping students achieve their goals which gives us both a sense of accomplishment.

I personally believe that all students should be treated equitably rather than equally. We as educators must realize that our students are individuals and deserve to be treated as so. We must realize certain techniques work for a few and not the entire group. It is our responsibility as educators to encourage our students to reach their potential and provide a safe learning environment in which to do so.
I recently graduated with a Masters in Teaching from the University of South Florida. I also have earned a BA in History from St. Cloud State University. I have previous experience working at a private school in tampa as a classroom assistant. I also have experience tutoring primary and secondary students in reading and math.

I am patient, friendly, respectful of students and strive to make them at ease, feel comfortable asking questions and know that I will continue to explain concepts in different ways until they can grasp the concepts. I love to nurture others to learn, not necessarily funneling in facts. For me, a practical application of learned facts has to be instilled into a student. He/she must realize that there is a practical need for the subject matter, so that knowledge can be used in a way that can work to his advantage. A working knowledge of Spanish, for example, is helpful for any business or civic leader because the Hispanic community is the second largest market group in the country. I also believe that knowledge in arts and music is just as important as math and science. It makes for a well-rounded person, as well as a sensitive one. My approach toward tutoring is to focus on the practical aspects of the subjects that I teach.
I have a B.A. in Spanish from the University of South Florida and can effectively tutor in Spanish, English and French. I have used my talents in various ways over th ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

While in High school I was in a program called Future Educators of America. I taught Emotional Handicapped Children by choice and I use what I have learned back then to teach today. I have 3 small children myself so I do enjoy teaching them new things and helping them further understand the concept more. Sometimes I use an example something they are familiar with, something that I know will grab their attention, then it does not even feel like learning. With me, the majority of learning is focused around being fun & creative where others are more in tuned to the reality of it as we all know this is how life is so I help them learn life skills as well. However I do utilize the importance of their involvement.
I currently instruct medical billing and coding classes. I have just started and I realized how much I love this. Even when I complete my own BA in Healthcare Management, this ... read more
