In 1994 my family and I move to San Jose, Costa Rica to begin studing Spanish at the Spanish Language Training Institute called, CINCEL, in San Jose, Costa Rica. We spent a year of intensive liguistics training which enabled us to start teaching in Spanish the following year. We ended up spending the next 10 years teach in 3 different countries in Central America. Spanish is one of my top subjects! I am continuously complimented on my Spanish skills by people with Spanish as their first language. I learned Spanish through living with a family of Mexican heritage, through my personal relationships in our local Hispanic community, 3 years of High School Spanish, working at The Latino Community Development Center, and several trips to Mexico. I have been told that I have teaching techniques for difficult Spanish pronunciations, that help the student pronunciations Spanish vocabulary with greater ease.

Spanish is one of my top subjects!

I find diffrent ways to help children understand what they are learning in a fun way.
Throw out my high school year I was in a program called “Learn and Serve”. This program consisted of going to the closest elementary school for an hour a day and be a teachers aid. Therefor, I help any student who was having difficulties. In some cases would even help teach a lesson if the only adult in the room was a sub teacher.

My comments on tutoring Spanish : I am not a native Spanish speaker, but I have been learning the language for many years, and I have a minor in it. I can help most with grammar, vocabulary,and reading.

My main goal is to help my students become more confident in their own abilities to learn material, improve skills, and express their ideas. A Little Bit About Me...

During my last year of college, I was employed by my university as a science/math tutor. During this year I was able to help students with their science problems of all levels. A Little Bit About Me...

I currently have a bachelors degree in sociology with a minor in elementary education. I generally try to remain as friendly as possible with the tutee so that he/she can relax and learn in a comfortable environment. I work on a first-name basis and try to make sure that the student is LEARNING, rather than merely finishing his/her homework. I teach using a Platonic method, asking prodding questions and getting the tutee to figure out the material him/herself.
