I left school to start a family bakery in Vermont followed by award winning bakeries in Northern California and Utah. I earned my degree in Human Services from Virginia Wesleyan College, after graduating I returned to Massachusetts and took several classes towards a Masters degree at Anna Maria College. During this time I worked as a substitute teacher for the Spencer/East Brookfield school district and Leicester schools. I attended Clark University as a pre-med student and graduated with a BA in Biological Sciences. After graduation, I worked as a lab technician in a clinical immunology lab for 2 years prior to attending WPI for graduate school. While in grad school, I worked as a teaching assistant/tutor for 3 of the 4 years. When I was working as a post-doctoral fellow at UMASS Medical Center, I worked as a long-term substitute at Shrewsbury High School for AP Biology and picked up daily substitute teacher jobs here and there while tutoring for AP biology.
