I believe in creating students who have learned how to learn. I understand that I am only a temporary fixture in the lives of most students. Consequently, I strive to help them understand how to acquire information and ask the right questions so that they can succeed long after I've left their lives. A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught French and German in both public and private schools from grades 1 through the college level for over 30 years. My most recent experience was in a public high school, grades 9-12, where I taught for 25 years. I have a bachelors and a masters degree in French literature with a minor in German and am National Board Certified in French. I have also taught humanities and am certified in world civilizations.
Teaching has been a motivation for me for all of my working life. I have experienced the joys of my student's successes at the high school level and then on to their university courses or in their own work experiences. It is important to explain and have students experience learning from a number of different angles. Each day involves reading, speaking, listening and writing in the target language. The more senses involved, the better a student can grasp a skill.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is patient and creative. I seem to find unique ways and examples that the learner can understand to help describe how to solve problems. I’m not afraid to admit if I’m not confident of an answer to a question and will do all I can to figure out the solution that makes the best sense to the student. I’m flexible with regards to teaching for different learning styles because not everyone learns the same way. My tutoring can extend from grade school kids to college students.
I know the value of a tutor in a young person’s life. I have been working with the public for over 20 years, in that time I have worked with young adults as well as mature adults. I have also done some substitute teaching in elementary and high school levels. My experience is in food service and have dealt with many walks of life. I am a very committed member of Lincoln Kiwanis International as well as a member of the Central United Methodist Church. While I was a student at the University of Missouri I received a 5 hour A in Chemistry.
All people can learn, you just have to find a way to make the student understand the information, if its hands on or reading or a combination of both. Children need the tools and the direction and if you provide them both, the sky is the limit. I want to make a difference in a child's life.
