Through my volunteer work with church organizations I have over five years of experience mentoring others, which has given me an excellent understanding of the need for quality educators. I worked as a teacher in Kansas before moving to Oklahoma, where I currently work at a local Boys and Girls Club. There tutoring is a part of the daily activities and youth in various grade levels ask for help with numerous subject matter. Additionally, my educational experience as an English/Education major has given me a good foundation of writing and critical thinking skills that translate as an ability to teach a variety of subjects.
I believe in creating students who have learned how to learn. I understand that I am only a temporary fixture in the lives of most students. Consequently, I strive to help them understand how to acquire information and ask the right questions so that they can suc ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I have taught French and German in both public and private schools from grades 1 through the college level for over 30 years. My most recent experience was in a public high school, grades 9-12, where I taught for 25 years. I have a bachelors and a masters degree in French literature with a minor in German and am National Board Certified in French. I have also taught humanities and am certified in world civilizations.
Teaching has been a motivation for me for all of my working life. I have experienced the joys of my student's successes at the high school level and then on to their university courses or in their own work experiences. It is important to explain and have students experience learning from a number of different angles. Each day involves reading, speaking, listening and writing in the target language. The more senses involved, the better a student can grasp a skill.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is patient and creative. I seem to find unique ways and examples that the learner can understand to help describe how to solve problems. I’m not afraid to admit if I’m not confident of an answer to a question and will do all I can to figure out the solution that makes the best sense to the student. I’m flexible with regards to teaching for different learning styles because not everyone learns the same way. My tutoring can extend from grade school kids to college students.
I know the value of a tutor in a young person’s life. As a child I struggled in math, but working with a tutor I overcame my difficulties in this area and eventually went on to complete calculus level two and even become the math club president in high school. I have earned two degrees, a Masters in Business and a BS in Finance which have allowed me to gain extensive skills in math, statistical ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I have learned throughout my wide range of teaching experience that the most effective way for children and adults to learn is for the teacher to use the learning style of the student in planning instruction, and if the curriculum is set the teacher should have the ability to adapt the lesson appropriately. I have the skills to do both as a result of my training and experience. The reason I became an educator is because I have always had the desire to help others achieve their goals no matter what they might be! I work well with all ages in academic subjects AND early childhood development (Nanny 911/ birth to 5 year olds - behavioral, social/emotional, and cognitive). My name is Tambra Parker, and I am a Teacher.
After receiving a BS in Education from Illinois State University in 1997, I began teaching all subjects in grades K - 8 in the greater Chicago area over the course of ... read more
