Although I have been self employed for the last 6 years, I went back to school last year to add Science and Math for middle school to my certification. I passed the Praxis for both of those subjects spring of 2010. I was not able to get a full time teaching position this year. I went back to working for myself but would love to tutor. I have tutored for 3 years while I worked for Tryon Elementary school. I had great success with the students I worked with, in particular concerning math. I am very qualified to work in a tutoring capacity. I believe in good classroom management and organized lesson plans. I enjoy teaching both children and adults, from beginners on up to future music majors. Each student is unique, so I try to adapt my instruction to take advantage of each students strenghts. Those strengths may be musical background, ability to play by ear, strong theory skills, and so on. I also enjoy teaching different musical skills such as: Theory, ear training, and arranging. The thing I enjoy most about teaching, is seeing the excitement in a students eyes and behaviour when he or she really understands what a truly wonderful gift music is.
