Inspired Educational Help!

I consider myself a very patient tutor, which I think is essential to the process. That said, I usually offer the student a few options in which to learn the material. I then let them decide which option makes the most sense to them. I believe Education and learning is a very personal process, which is why it should be tailored to each individual differently. *I am available to help with homeschooling students. Please contact me for more details!
I first want to start out by saying that I have a passion for what I do. I have over seven years of experience as a tutor and mentor and it has been a very rewarding experience. I am currently a Secondary/Special Education Graduate student and am enjoying the process of learning more about the field. I received a BBA in Accounting and History in 2009, so I also have a background in Business. I will always be glad and willing to tutor i ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and interacting with today's young kids. They fascinate me. Every child has different learning systems and sometimes it takes several tries to reach that special spot that opens the child's eyes to what excites them about learning. The thrill that I feel when that point is found and theirs, (And my, excitement,)grows. There is no feeling in the world like that!
When I substitute for a teacher, I want to see a lesson plan. I do not want to be the classroom babysitter. If there is no plan for the day I involve the students in making one. I'm currently working on obtaining my teaching certificate, to go along with my bachelors degree in Social Science. Hopefully, I will be able to go on to receive my Masters in Education. I have been able to tutor students in reading, sentence structure, English and American history.

I have taken education classes at Northern Kentucky University. At one point, I was considering on being a Art Teacher. I didn't finish with that path, but I did gain much experience with children and knowledge during that time in working with students. I have worked and studied special needs children as well. I still consider going back for a Master's at some point in education. I think this job would be beneficial in my goals, and for my students, and a great learning experience for us both.
I am not overbearing. I am laid back, but at the same time, I make sure that the student learns what he/she needs to learn. I am very patient. I try to respect the student and not make learning seem like a chore. Building a foundation of learning skills, even during a short tudoring session can really change a student's approach in all of their classes.

I don't think I have really developed a "unique style" by only teaching a year or so. I am a very patient person and I really like to see the "sparkle" in a students eye, when they truly understand something for the 1st time. I like to explain a concept and then give the student a problem and see if they get it. If not, I will go over as many times necessary...until they understand the material.
I have a recent Bachelor's in Accounting, as well as 15+ years of accounting experience in both private and non-profit settings. While working at Thornhill Education Center, I had the opportunity to work with students and help teach GED classes. My main focus was math. I also had the opportunity to teach a level 1 accounting class for community education.

I am a French native speaker. I gave private tutoring lessons at the University Language Center to adults and their families as well as students preparing for the Graduate Proficiency Test (GPT) at the University of Minnesota. I was committing 2 to 3 hours a week of ESL, math and science tutoring junior high students from immigrant family background at Abraham Lincoln High School. My dedication made me noticed and recognized by the principal of the school which allowed me to work as an ESL teacher in the summer of 2004. In all my tutoring experience I have been extremely successful, in getting my students to pass the GPT, in achieving goals for the adults and their families, as well as for the kids from minority communities.
I have a friendly teaching style; I use a lot of sense of humor. But, this takes a lot of hard work to achieve. The reason I am able to teach French gramma ... read more

I simply ADORE teaching, either children or adults. The 4th, 5th & 6th graders I taught in Lebanon Christian school loved and learned from me. I was successful in making their learning material interesting and learnable. The class I teach at XU is one of the most popular classes in the Weekend Degree Program. As I said above, I emphasize the art of dialogue, which includes above all else, active listening to, and deep respect for, the other person in the dialogue. My students tell me that this class has been life-changing for them. They see the world and their relationships in it and with others in a whole new light.
In 1984 and 1985, I taught for two years in the Lebanon, OH, Christian School, grades 4,5, & 6. For the past 10 years I have been teaching in the Weekend Degree Program at Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH. I am an adjunct professor in the Theology Departme ... read more

My teaching style is very simple. I teach one step at a time until it is mastered by the student, then I move on to the next step. I do not move ahead until a student can display that they know the exact processes or information needed to succeed in the next phase. I am highly patient and I personally sympathize with any student who is having difficulty in any subject. I get great satisfaction in seeing a student progress in a thorough, orderly fashion.
I graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor's degree in social studies education with honors in 1988. I taught world history, government and economics for most of the 1988-89 school year. I then returned to college and earned a BS in journalism. After a number of years as a news reporter/editor and work in other areas, I took a teaching position with the Cincinnati Job Corps Center, teaching math and basic algebra to hig ... read more

I am very down to earth and like to take things seriously. I think most people respond the best to positive reinforcement; however, I know how to be serious. I am very good at explaining things because I like to have things explained to me in detail. I am very professional and polite and am good at making people feel comfortable around me. For me, education is very important and it is important to stay on top of the game. In order to do this you need to make it enjoyable for the student by giving them realistic goals, positive feedback and meaningful explanations.
I would make a great tutor because I am still a student myself. I am in my last semester of law school and hold a BA in English. My teaching style revolves around the idea of mastering important aspects of a subject area before moving to a more difficult subject area. In our current education system, students are allowed to move to more difficult courses without having the necessary building blocks. Through one-on-one tutoring, it is possible to take a couple steps back, assess a student's current capabilities and tailor lessons to the individual student (i.e. one student may need to back track and practice fractions before moving on to more difficult algebra). I also enjoy working with students are looking to excel beyond their grade level by challenging their problem-solving capabilities with new ideas and techniques in a variety of subject areas.
In between obtaining my BA in political science and English from the University of Mississippi in 2009 and returning to school for chemical engineering I spent a ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My background includes a Bachelor's degree in history and economics supplemented with minors in math, music, and secondary education. I have taught high school American History and tutored economics, algebra, geometry, and calculus. I particularly enjoy working with older students who are highly motivated and focused. However, one of the great joys in tutoring can be engaging the reluctant learner to make the content interesting and relevant. My most recent teaching experience involved developing and implementing training sessions for an on-line state standards alignment company. While this experience does not cover the same content, the underlying skills are the same: conveying information so that the learner quickly understands and masters the concepts at hand. In the absence of visual cues during virtual training, I've learned to ask targeted questions to identify precisely which ... read more
