My comments on tutoring Life Science : Another name for biology. B.S. Biology

I have a degree in biology. I was planning on going to medical school at one point so I focused on human anatomy and human physiology. I also took advanced mammalian physiology 1 and 2 for graduate credit. I made A's in all of these courses. I took an aquatic entomology course one summer and decided to focus more on ecology and zoology. I have taken invertebrate zoology, aquatic ecology, environment science, entomology, and other courses.
When you study a biological concept your study process needs to be organized. Most of my tests when I started taking upper level courses covered over at least 100 to 200 pages in the textbook. You need to learn how to break it down in to smaller sections while using your notes from class to predict the most important information to know thoroughly for your next test. I love to learn and everyone learns differently. I believe that if the information is not being understood one way, then we need to find another way to instruct. Hands-on learning and learning through experience always leaves a lasting impression. Just memorizing facts, although in some cases that is necessary, it is just not fun for all students and just may not stick unless learned in a fun way. I want to make learning fun because no one should ever stop learning. There is just too much out there to sit back and let life pass you by.

I work on a first-name basis and try to make sure that the student is LEARNING, rather than merely finishing his/her homework.
