My comments on tutoring Elementary Social Studies : I loved reading about all the famous people when I was in grade school.

I graduated from Eastern Oregon University in 1988 and have taught elementary age for many years. I homeschooled my seven children part of that time and now they are responsible, successful people. Now I'm a retired elementary school teacher and have a half day preschool in the bottom of my home. It has it's own entrance and play yard. Love my kids! In our school, I teach sign language Zoophonics, curiosity using the inspired Reggio Emilia style, a unique method from Italy. We have lots of fun.
Reggio Emilia inspired way of learning where the children learn while they play and create. Lots of imagination and fun.

I believe students will rise to the level of expectations set for them. I am a bit of a comedian, and I use humor to allay frustration in learning situations. A Little Bit About Me...

My approach is to incorporate multiple learning styles (visual, auditory and so on). I also like to incorporate skills training as part of a scenario when possible. Using techniques like appropriate background music, brief stretch breaks, having the children read to Sierra, my golden retriever, are all techniques that I would like to use. Teaching children would be a joy and very rewarding. I had trouble learning to read when I was young until I attended Mrs. Bird's class. She took the time to meet with me one-on-one and taught me to read and changed my life in the process. My last class was a self-contained 6th grade, with a 34% ELL and 14% special education population. My class average reading level rose from 4.6 to 7.1.
