I worked as a teacher's assistant for several years in public schools in Illinois, assisting in K-5 classrooms. I worked at Sylvan Learning Center for 2 years, teaching beginning reading and elementary reading. As I gained experience, I began tutoring students in the school district where I worked. After several years, I became a fifth grade teacher in a private school where I taught for 5 years. In this position, I worked with students on writing skills, and prepared students for our annual math olympics, science fair, and spelling competitions. I tutored individual 4th and 5th graders after school.

A Little Bit About Me...

I draw on a variety of teaching experiences that contribute to my success with students. My most recent position was teaching all subjects to grades K-4 in a self-contained classroom. We had a family atmosphere with an open door policy where parents could visit and talk with me before and after school any day of the week. Because I developed the curriculum, I have a thorough understanding of where a student should be presently, and where he is heading. I achieved my BS in 3.5 years with certifications in Kindergarten and English for secondary education. I have employed multiple skills to teach many disciplines to students. My interest in Science and Technology encouraged not only students to learn, but other teachers to request my expertise.
