I have been a math resource tutor at my high school for the past year. I really enjoying helping people using my strengths in the math and sciences. I have also experienced tutoring first hand. I was tutored in AP BC Calculus and AP Physics, so I know from experience what works and what doesn't. I am not young enough to know everything

I agree with the concept that each person learns a bit differently, and even more so that as a tutor, I should try and find the most effective style for my tutee. My academic career also taught me the importance of setting time limits for each action item; and switching tasks to keep the mind sharp.

Mathematically, I teach from a logical, or procedural approach. As students work their way up to Calculus and further, it is important to understand the process of problem-solving and not focus on the numbers alone. Some learn better by writing the material out. Still others need to be physically involved, "doing" the project. When I attended college I became an Early Childhood Education major and volunteered in preschool and elementary schools.
