Being an undergraduate at WPI and haven taken several Advanced Placement classes in areas outside of math and science, I consider myself a very well rounded student. I was also strongly considered for a MASH program here at the University, or "Math and Science Help", as a Section Leader/Tutor. Going through a lower-middle class urban high school, I was known as that "smart kid" and would often led study groups outside of class to prepare for tests.
I have struggled with the areas I am not proficient in, so I understand what it is to be frustrated and confused. My teaching style is presenting various approaches to the same idea, in hopes that at least one will click, and better yet, each approach with solidify an idea or concept that much more.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style changes based on how the student has been taught previously and I will try different methods to see what will work best for the individual. I know all students learn differently so I may take a direct method where we will go over the facts and jump straight into the material. Another method will be re-examining the material and finding what the student already knows and how that student normally studies.
Currently I have been working in Elementary School in the Fall River School Department. I have been placed in grades Pre-Kindergarten to Fifth grade. I believe the key to good teaching is understanding the subject from the student's perspective. As a teacher, it is easy to take for granted certain assumptions and prior knowledge that a student may lack. Each student brings a unique approach and starting point to the learning experience. The teacher's job is to find that starting point and lead the student from there to a place of deeper understanding and knowledge.
