My comments on tutoring Genetics : I received my BS in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry with honors in 2010. I took upper level biological genetic courses and excelled. Although I received A grades, it has been 3 years since I took any genetics courses.

I have tutored one-on-one as well as to large groups. My focus is on college level science classes. I feel that bringing creative and unique methods to learning helps student overcome their dispassion or fear. My sessions aim to be positive and motivating. Although I have won numerous awards for my creativity, and presentation methods, the greatest reward have been the smiling faces of my students after the course when they brag about their final grades. I worked as a tutor in the Learning Center at SUNY Fredonia from September 2008 through December 2009. There I tutored college-level Biology and Chemistry in group and one-on-one settings. I previously tutored a local third-grader in reading and writing and taught a first grade class in Vacation Bible School for two weeks over two summers. I have a bachelor degree in biology with a minor in anthropology, including 2 years of chemistry, and a year of calculus.

I like working with children. They are so appreciative and excited when they learn and figure out a new word or anything. I am easy going and very supportive. GIven a good learning atmosphere, good support, encouragement and enthusiasm and children can learn. Everyone learns in different ways; in a one-on-one situation that can be discovered and lessons designed to best help the child.
I finished my degree by going to summer and night school; I graduated in 1979. I was the first in my family to go to college and I am very proud of that. I have become a much better writer and am much more aware of grammar through writing reports, technical papers and SOPs. I am currently a Masters in teaching biology student and am working part time in a biotechnology teaching laboratory. As an instructor in the lab, I work with middle and high school aged students who come to the University on field trips. I have experience tutoring younger students in math as well.
