I try to me more personable than most instructors. Many students simply need another approach to a subject to understand the material. I actively find that perfect approach for an individual student.
I have taught and tutored since I was sixteen. I currently teach for USC, a few online universities, Syl. Learning Center, and am a Professional Writing Tutor. I teach all grades and university levels, but my specialties are AP Courses and university courses. I enjoy working with children and understand that everyone has a unique learning style. An effective teacher works with this while exercising patience, care and consideration for students as they guide them to subject mastery. My preferred method of teaching is show and do. I show the technique or concept, and then give the student a chance to practice and demonstrate that they understand. The student learns best when they can find or develop the answer themselves. We then work to build on what they understand until they master the subject. I love to be in the classroom. I love the process of learning. It is important to understand that children learn at different paces and in different ways. It is important for us as instructors to recognize this dynamic. I particularly believe that we have a responsibility to embrace this dynamic and encourage and challenge our students to be their best.
