I have tutored 2 kids from the ages 10-14 in elementary and middle school subjects in reading comprehension, writing structure as well as some basic math. I tutored them from 2013-2015 I also have also taught study skills and writing strategies. As an online graduate at Kaplan University, I quickly became aware of my priorities. Students seeking help often emailed other classmates for assistance. I was often told there were very few students who responded to their emails; however, I was one of them. I earned my Associate degree through Allegany College of Maryland. I enjoyed this area of study so much that I decided to transfer to Kaplan University Online and continue my study in Business Administration with concentration in Accounting. I attended graduation in Chicago, IL, where I learned no matter what obstacles in life you face you can continue your education if your mind is set to do it. My overall GPA at Allegany College of Maryland was 3.6 and 3.5 at Kaplan University Online. I love to help people understand what they are learning. While in high school, I was a certified adult literacy tutor. Since I've had children, I have been an active volunteer in their classes - preschool through elementary school. I hold a BS from PSU in Finance with a minor in Economics. I earned my MBA while working full time in less than 2 years. In my last position, I was the training team lead for IT and policy for the Department of the Navy's financial card program. I have taught classes as small as 4-5 individuals to as large as 1200 students. I love to teach and to see the students actually understanding the concept and putting the context into action. I try to teach the big picture first - if the student understands why they need the subject and how it will benefit them in their future, it makes the learning relevant. I am personable and down to earth, making examples at the students level. I try to keep the learning real.
