Let the young teach the young

Even though I am young, I do know how to convey teaching skills with the "up-to-date" mind set of today's generation. The main experience I have is helping fellow school mates and family with the problems they are having with school work. I did finish high school with a diploma. I have been to many schools and have had many teachers. I have been able to learn many techniques of solving a single problem.
I am fun and relaxed, but know how to get down to the point. I make my teaching easy to understand.

I am a life-long learner with degrees in Zoology & Philosophy, and I was the Valedictorian of my high school. I have 17 years of experience in the IT industry, mostly as a Technical Writer. I have taught in public school (Science for 6th-12th grades), I have tutored in the subjects of reading, writing, math, and science, and I have taught as a substitute in various subjects. I also have a great deal of volunteer experience with children: mentoring an 8-year-old boy for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, working with disabled children in a therapeutic horseback riding program, teaching horseback riding lessons to kids, volunteering for a children's shelter, and teaching an after-school program to 3rd-6th graders about pet-related subjects.

I am a warm and friendly teacher. Students are encouraged in whatever manner works best for them individually. For many, this takes the form of a friendly, cajoling encouragement. Others need reassurance of their capabilities. Regardless of the student, I find that success feeds their success. I try to find out what is of interest to my students, and to present the material as it relates to that interest. This keeps them motivated to listen and to learn.
