Over 8 years of passionate, creative teaching and tutoring!

I have always loved traveling, learning about different cultures, history, ideologies and of course food and have traveled to over 16 countries and lived in 5, Germany, Israel, Egypt, Turkey and most recently México, where my Spanish speaking and ESL teaching journey began. I have significant experience in Mexican culture from teaching English for 5 1/2 years to learners of all ages from young children to adults. I have experience teaching all subjects in bilingual primary schools and English Literature for a year in a private IBO (K-12) school in Querétaro, MX. A Little Bit About Me...

I am interactive and student-centered. I see where the student's strengths lie and build from there. We do homework and tests together, and I move from a coaching role to an observational one, only coaching occasionally as necessary. We work not only on the subject matter, but techniques which improve comprehension, retention, organization and motivation.
I have taught and tutored both children and adults in a wide variety of situations, from job training and test preparation to tutoring for a specific subject. I have taught ESL classes and done individual tutoring, as well as both group and one-on-one instruction in grammar and composition. I have tutored for SAT, ACT, TOEFL, TOEIC, ISEE and entrance exams. I have created my own materials for such tutoring but also use books available commercially.

I encourage a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where the student and I can work together to create goals and then decide on the best ways to achieve these goals, including discussing which learning style works best for the student. I encourage students to learn by doing and by thinking. So, rather than give the student a list of rules to memorize, I prefer to give an example of a rule and then have the student interpret the example and implement it in a new situation, afterward reflecting on what they did to see how it helped (or did not help) them learn. Most of all, I love watching the students grow from what they have learned and challenging them to meet (and make) their goals.
