A Little Bit About Me...

While earning my BA in history, I was able to lean many aspects of history. My studies ranged from the Mild Ages to the 1960s and current. I was also able to intern with the Sherburne County History Center where I learned on the job techniques and how to interact with children. Though teaching was not my primary role at the History Center, I was exposed to many opportunities not only to teach but to help others track down their lineage.
Teaching comes easily to me especially with high school and college age students. I highly enjoy accelerated history, critical thinking and exploring the odd details of history. I tend to be a stern teacher with high expectations for students. This being said, I try my hardest to help students comprehend and understand the material being learned. Although I have recently graduated with a degree in business, I am interested in pursuing a career involving people. My previous employment was a sales position that was very customer-oriented. I also have 3 years of experience helping children by teaching swimming lessons. Assisting my 15-year-old sister with her school work is also a regular activity.
I believe in a teaching style that reflects a student's learning style. Whether they learn best by hearing, seeing, or doing it is important to cater to the student. My teaching style works around this philosphy and tends to be a combination of all 3 styles.
