My comments on tutoring Writing Skills : As an author, writing is one of my strongest areas. I not only teach mechanics, such as grammar, spelling, and sentence structure, but also introduce students to various types of writing such as poetry, journal, and report writing.

I have taught for many decades and use a variety of teaching styles since all students learn differently. I am more of a 'traditional' style teacher, realizing that the basics are vital. I am a visual learner myself, but realize that my students may not. I always teach so that all students learn..using visual,hands on, and auditory presentation of material. I am extremely thorough and endeavor to be sure my students have mastered a concept before moving on to more complex topics. I ALWAYS make what I am teaching relevant to the students...showing them how they will use what we are learning in a real life situation. My comments on tutoring Writing Skills : The expectation of writing excellence in all of my college classes, as well as my love for reading, has taught me to write well. Outside of the numerous papers and reports I write for my classes, I keep a blog and occassionally submit articles to various websites.

The most effective teaching takes place whent he teacher presents the information clearly and then gives the student ample opportunity to put it into practice, with the teacher watching and assisting.
I was homeschooled at a higher academic standard than public schools. As a current senior at Pensacola Christian College, I have recieved a steller education in English, as well as Bible and Biblical Greek. The usefullness of understanding Biblical Greek and being able to study the Bible in its original languages cannot be overemphasized. This is where I would like to spend my tutoring time, although I will be willing to help in basic English, Writing, or Reading.
