For the past 30 years, I have worked with special needs students. I believe that students learn at their educational level. The problem with education today, is that students are often in classrooms that stress learning at their frustration level. Many students are in general ed settings, but are forced to use materials that they do not fully understand. In my role as a teacher consultant, I adapted materials so the students could understand it. If chosen as a tutor, I would do the same so the students would learn at their education level.
I am a retired special ed teacher. I worked with Learning Disabled, Emotionally Impaired, Cognitively Impaired, and Austistic students primarily in the high school. I currently am working as a teacher for summer school. I enjoy walking in the school everyday and working with the students, helping them find academic success while having fun at the same time. I believe all children can meet their potential if they are given the right learning experiences. I love working with children one on one or in a group. I have found most children learn by hands on.
