I am currently a 7th & 8th grade math teacher, as well as an adjunct professor in math. I am very familiar with the PA State Common Core Standards for these grades, as well as other grades. I also have tutored most college math classes, including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Business Calculus and Calculus. I have tutored both one-on-one and in group settings.

Education has always been extremely important to me. I have recently retired, having taught third grade for over thirty years. I worked in the public school system during this time, tutoring Math. I have tutored and aided my nieces from elementary school to the present. I still help them with papers and studying for tests. Additionally, I am presently taking a course dealing with the writing of children,s books.
I have always enjoyed working with children, especially those of the second, third, or fourth grade level. I am patient, helpful, and considerate. I believe that there are different ways to learn and attack problems, and that all children can succeed if only encouraged to do so. I have experience teaching many types of students. I worked one-on-one, daily, with an autistic student during my last position, so I understand that not every student learns in the same way. I think it works well to give shorter lessons to a small group, and then work individually with the students. I like to encourage them to help one another if they feel confident in the subject. I pay great attention to verifying that each student is following the lesson. My main teaching style is "I do, you do," meaning I show them how to do a problem, or spell a word, and then they show me how.
