My recent training through the nationally ranked Illinois State University English Education Program required me to work with a wide range of learners (from advanced placement students to those with learning disabilities). Therefore, my ability to differentiate instruction has certainly been polished. Prior to this training, I completed a teaching internship in which I assisted, tutored, and created lessons for young learners. Most recently I have gone through a literacy tutor training program, which provided me with extensive knowledge on how to better help students succeed in reading, writing, and math. I have a BS in journalism, and a specialization in advertising/integrated marketing communications. I also have minors in English and psychology. As a result of studying both journalism and English, I have an extensive background in writing. I have tutored ESL students to learn to read and write in English.
My teaching style involves demonstrating how to understand a problem or perform a task before I ask the student to do so. By facilitating students in such a way, I believe they have a more one-on-one learning experience, as opposed to a strict lecture setting. With guidance and demonstration, I believe it is easier for students to learn without pressure.
