After graduating with a 4.0 from Vestavia Hills High School in Birmingham, AL, I went to Auburn University to pursue an Industrial and Systems Engineering degree. My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : I work with children 1st-4th grade in basic arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.

I am am a certified Reading Instruction Specialist and former fourth grade teacher. Most students rise 2-4 grade levels in under 50 hours of instruction using the Academic Associates Reading Program. The Academic Associates curriculum is a 13 lesson brain-based phonics curriculum. One of my favorite success stories is a student I'll call Mark. After completing only 7 lessons, Mark went from a 1.9 reading level to a 3.5 reading level. Because of his previous struggles in reading, the school he attended planned to retain him in the second grade. After only 2 months of instruction, the school called his mother to let her know that he would not be retained because of the remarkable improvement in his reading. I've tutored two kids in my neighborhood for 40 buck every two weeks. It was a marvelous experience because they were very respectful young boys...majority of the time. It was kind of hard for them to keep their focus so i drew a plan which was rewarding them with candy and toys, and of course since it was my idea I didn't charge extra. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to tutor them anymore because had to move with my mother. All in all, no matter the task I will always try my best to achieve!!!

I began tutoring when I was a Jr. in high school. I tutored a variety of subjects for grades 5 through 8 during my last two years of high school. During my freshman year of college I tutored a classmate in English Composition I. More recently I tutored a college freshman in Algebra and some of my peers for continuing education credits in Algebra.
