Helping Your Child Reach His Potential

I have tutored elementary children one on one for about 2 years now. I did my student teaching at Friendship Christian School in Raleigh. I enjoy teaching children to read and am proficient in teaching mathematics to younger children. I do well teaching one on one with no distractions. I am firm, but not mean. When it is time to tutor, nothing else is allowed but schoolwork.

I graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Elementary Education (K-6) as well as Reading Certification (K-12). Changing The World, One Child AT A Time

I was an assistant teacher to a 3rd grade class at Wilson's Mills Elementary from 2001 until 2003. Reading and Spelling Tutor: Specializing in Dyslexia/LD/ADHD

I teach using the Barton Reading and Spelling System (an Orton-Gillingham based program). This program teaches students to read and spell phonetically (sounding out words). I use a multi-sensory method (see a word, touch a word, say a word, hear a word), so that the student is completely engaged in the lesson through the use of most of their senses. This program was designed for students with dyslexia and learning disabilities, but would help anyone (child or adult) that struggles with reading and spelling, especially individuals with ADD/ADHD. I have had intensive training with multiple intelligence (Kagan structures) with my current employer. I use these structures during every lesson.
