My belief is in the child. I am extremely patient and loving. The child sets the pace at which we learn and we would not move on to the next subject until the child completely understands the material.

I have always had a passion for education, whether it is teaching youth or adults. I have gained about 3 additional years of teaching and now am working in a higher education setting. I hold a degree in special education which focused on the needs of learning disabled students, though required I still maintain the same knowledge of a licensed educator. Along with a degree in special education I own a degree in psychology. Cumulatively, this allows me to grasp a sense of the student’s feelings, emotions and expressions while learning, which in turn makes the session a lot more conducive. I feel I am able to connect with students through their strengths and weaknesses and use that to find the best strategy to ensure excellent learning.

I am a patient and encouraging teacher and believe that all children can learn. I feel it is important to meet children where they are at and grow them to reach their full potential. Since all students learn differently, I believe it is important to be flexible in my teaching methods. If a student is not understanding a concept, it is my job to find new ways to teach that concept until I find a way that clicks for that student. I feel I am especially skilled at taking large abstract concepts such as writing an essay, and breaking it down into small concrete components that any student can follow and learn. Lastly, I feel that organization and study skills play a large role in the academic success of students and must be incorporated into any academic plan for success.

As a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a degree in Elementary Education I have been given many opportunities to work with students of all ages. I have taken many different courses to help me learn different learning styles of students and ways to help them. I have been in many different classrooms and have been able to work with students of different levels. I have experience in grades 2-5.
I love teaching and helping students learn. I understand that students all learn differently and some may have more difficulty learning certain things. I can relate to many of these students as I struggled in math for a long time. I think this is something that helps me with my teaching because I am able to relate to the students on a different level. I am patient and easy going and understanding. A Little Bit About Me...

I never give up on a child or an adult. I recently tutored a law enforcement official to help him understand and pass algebra. He didn't think anyone could help him. The schools told me my son would never learn to read or write. He is my only child out of four who reads lengthy books for pleasure. Everyone has a different style of learning. My teaching methods I alter to suit those needs. I spent three years trying to help my dyslexic son learn to read one sentence. I have patience and I love helping people. I am also a volunteer crisis counselor for the local police department.
I took every math course offered by a 4 year college, student taught for one 6 week session, and took some educational courses. After home educating my 4 children for 17 years, I returned to school to complete an AA degree in liberal arts and a BA degree in sociology. I now work as a math teacher work ... read more

I have always wanted to be a teacher, ever since I was in Kindergarten. Every year I would "take notes" from my classroom teacher and think to myself, "I could do that in my classroom." I have a passion for teaching children. When I see that light bulb hovering above their head, it really makes all the hard work worth it. I am persistent, yet calm during teaching. I stick to the procedures, and let the student find the right path to discovery. I believe that each child wants to learn and grow; they only need to be shown the path to accomplishment.

I like to incorporate real world experience as well as hands on teaching. My style of teaching depends on the class I have. I incorporate whole group and small group using many visuals. I also do read and respond with my classroom. For my auditory learners I use cassette tapes and reread instructions and stories. These are just some of the basic things I do in my classroom.
My background knowledge of speech and language has helped me as an educator in my classroom. By teaching kindergarten, third grade, and speech & language it has given me a varying range of teaching experiences.

My teaching style addresses each student as an individual with unique abilities and strengths. I believe that it is important to create a positive learning environment for the child and instill a "can-do" attitude. I approach the teaching of a difficult concept by evaluating the child's current level of knowledge and using task analysis to scaffold increasingly progressive steps to achieve comprehension. My greatest reward in teaching is the recognition that lights up a child's eyes when he or she realizes that he or she can learn.
I have a wide range of teaching experience with K-12 students who have difficulty learning in a mainstream classroom. My academic background consists of a M.A.T. in Elementary Education, a B.A. in Audiology, and seven credit hours in graduate coursework. I have a valid Florida teaching license. My passion is to work with children. All children are different, therefore each child learns differently and at one's own pace. My goal is to help each child improve in the appointed subject. I use a collaborative method of teaching; keeping it content- and student-centered. However, I maintain organization and facilitation, while adjusting my approach so it adapts to each individual. Keeping it student-centered allows the student to recognize one's own needs and set goals for his or her own self. Each child is able to reach for their higher self, with the help from the right individual.

While earning my degree in physics at the University of Central Florida I found that tutoring was an excellent experience for both my students and me. I have tutored many different subjects including math(from algebra to differential equations), astronomy, physics, chemistry and biology. I truly enjoyed doing this and hope to continue tutoring and teaching.
