A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that the best way for a student to learn is to explain the basics of which subject I am teaching, show a few examples, and then let them discover how to obtain the answers in their own way. It’s very satisfying when I see a student’s mental light click on and their eyes light up in understanding after they figure something out. Positive encouragement is very important too.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an administrator of a school I oversaw the education of children from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. I have eight years experience teaching algebra I, five years teaching business math. I have eleven years experience teaching English grammar from third grade through twelfth grade. I have taught fourth grade for three years, fifth grade for three years and sixth grade for two years.
My goal in teaching is to provide the student with the tools to discover and learn new concepts and to apply this knowledge to the learning process. I do not beleive in giving answers, but rather helping the student learn how to find the answers. I am very patient and will go over a concept until it is understood by the student. My teaching style purposefully reflects the great teachers I have had. While I consider my subject and field of study greatly important, I realize that all work and no play kills desire. A subject, especially English, has to come alive; students have to relate. Of course grammar is always the hard part to "dress up," but that's the fun of teaching. The best lesson I have learned is that each student is different and what makes him/her tick is different.
