My comments on tutoring Basic Learning Skills : I have a Bachelors in Applied Arts and Sciences from Texas State University and worked as an interpreter for a Regional Day School Program for the Deaf in Texas for 14 years and much of that time was in the elementary school setting. My job description as an interpreter included being a teacher's aid and a tutor. I interpreted all subjects and so I am very familiar working with students at this age. Because I was in the general educational classrooms I not only tutored the Deaf students, I also tutored the hearing students who needed help.

I use more of a visual approach to teaching. I will draw, create visuals or use manipulatives - whatever it takes to help a student understand.
I love to see students "Get it!" when I tutor. I am patient, tenacious and I don't give up until a student understands! One of my areas of expertise is creating visual materials for students who are visual learners. I will draw, use manipulatives and anything else it takes to explain a concept. I worked for 14 years as an interpreter/tutor for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and tutor to hearing students as well. (from 2002-2016) Twelve years of my experience has been working with elementary aged and middle school aged students, though I have worked with students from pre-school to high school ages as well. A Little Bit About Me...

I feel that all students learn differently and for that my teaching styles vary. I am a visual person so; I that all children can learn when shown examples of what I am trying to teach them. I am very hands-on as a teacher and I want your child to be involved in their learning. Above all, I love children and I feel that all children can learn if just given a chance.
In 2006, I earned my bachelors degree in Elementary Education K- 8th grades. My cognate was concentrated in the Socials Studies areas. I have a great love of history and always traveling to learn more about interesting parts of the country. After graduation, I taught Commercial Science grades 6th thru 8th in a middle school. Since I was very young I tutored my brother on many occasions in reading and math. I believe everyone has a gift, and I knew that teaching was that gift for me. I enjoy working with children and teaching them how to be successful. There is a indescribable feeling when one sees the sparkle in the eyes of a child when they finally "get it". I believe that children have to met where they are. I teach children according to their needs.
