My teaching style is one in which I strive to engage students in the subject by both instructing and challenging them to think on their own. I also strive to accomplish this goal in such a manner that the student experiences the fun that is a part of learning, but one that also emphasizes the importance of the learning process as well. A Little Bit About Me...

I have 16 years teaching elementary grades 1 through 3. During this time I taught Compensatory Education for 2 years in 1st grade, 4 years in 2nd grade and 1 year in third grade. In the Compensatory Education classes I would receive the poorest readers and worked with them throughout the school year. The 3rd grade Comp-Ed class all started as poor readers and ended the year by all passing the reading portion of the Texas TAAS test. I had a 1st grade class for 5 years and 2nd grade for 4 years. I also taught in Italy DoD Schools, taught basic skills to American GIs overseas, and I am currently a sustitute teacher for both Bastrop and Elgin ISDs. I have over 120 in-service hours, have been substitute of the year for schools in each district.
