A in AP U.S. History in High School, B.A. in International Relations and Russian Post-Soviet Studies from The College of William and Mary (3.4 GPA). 6 years of Russian language study, including a 6-week study abroad program in St. Petersburg, Russia, and 1.5 years living and teaching ESOL in Novosibirsk, Russia. 10 years of competitive running experience, including being captain of High School and University cross country and track and field teams.
Relaxed. I do not discipline students. If students want to learn they will put in the effort - I will not be their babysitter. I try to make class interesting, involved, and active, and to create a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

I primarily use the Socratic Method (question and answer) as my teaching style. I believe that asking students the right questions helps them to learn the information. Also, in certain instances I believe it helps the learning process if the subject matter can be related to an area of interest. I believe this can be a key component in a student's understanding of a subject.

I fundamentally believe anyone can learn. If a student isn’t grasping a concept, it just means I have to change my style of teaching. So what is my teaching style…anything that helps a student achieve his or her potential. But the one thing I teach all my students is how to find their learning style.
