At SCSU, I work as a writing consultant at the Writing Center on campus. With students, I help to make them better writers by helping answer questions, presenting questions, working through the brainstorming and paper-writing process, and helping with formatting. As well, I have helped to coordinate our second satellite location, which entails working with people on their schedules, managing conflicts of schedule, and serving as a head of the second location. I am also fluent in Spanish and feel comfortable tutoring high school and college levels. My teaching style is, for the most part, non-directive. I think it is important to try to have students answer their own questions. When this does not work, I do not just tell the student what goes where or why this doesn't work, I give reasons and have them tell me these same reasons the next time we come across something that doesn't work.

Attending a private liberal arts college taught me to push myself to be the very best I could be. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classics with an emphasis on Greek, and a minor in English. I believe that people learn in different fashions. For example, I feel that some concepts may be better explained with tangible objects while other concepts are learned better when questioned and discussed. By exploring the different ways of learning we can find what works best for that individual and use that method as a tool for their understanding. I feel, in the past, that many of the peers I tutored not only obtained/recollected more information, but were more comfortable in a quiet, relaxed environment. Teaching comes easily to me especially with high school and college age students. I highly enjoy accelerated history, critical thinking and exploring the odd details of history.
