While earning my Masters in Accounting, I voluntarily tutored Undergrad students that were earning their Associates or Bachelors in Accounting. The students were enrolled in the local community college (Central Carolina Tech) as well as the University of South Carolina. I have earned an Associates, Bachelors, and Masters which all have concentration in Accounting. I tutor based on the individual's learning needs. I have encountered some that were visual learners ad everything had to be drawn/written out. I have also tutored students that can have me explain it and they grasp it easily. My teaching style changes according to the needs of the student because not every one learns the same. I do believe Accounting is a complex field and the student has to have an interest in the field to truly be successful in retaining what they are taught.

My teaching style is to provide verbal and written aids to students. I like to provide numerous examples and then allow students to complete a problem on their own. I am very patient and understand that my purpose is to provide assistance to my students and that my student's success is a reflection of me. As a current PhD student desiring to teach at a college level, I am motivated to teach others the valuable skills that I possess. I have tutored college students over a month span and conducted training programs for over 250 employees at my past jobs. I have taught four staff members SAP Accounting system operations for the FI, MM, and GL modules. I have been fortunate to enjoy accounting work experience mixed with training opportunities to empower staff and work efficiency.

I feel as though I am highly qualified and competitive for a teaching position because of my abilities to relate to children of all ages. As a volunteer basketball referee at Northside Baptist Church, Upward basketball program since 1998, I work with children between the ages of 7 and 13. I teach them about basketball and sportsmanship. As a parent of a 17 year old son, I constantly mentor him and his friends on life, school and everything in between. I really enjoy talking to these young men and giving them information about the importance of education. This seems to have a positive impact on the decisions they are starting to make. I am very eager to get into the school system as a full time teacher. I enjoy working with children and desire to be a role model for the youth of today.
