I tutor based on the individual's learning needs. I have encountered some that were visual learners ad everything had to be drawn/written out. I have also tutored students that can have me explain it and they grasp it easily. My teaching style changes according to the needs of the student because not every one learns the same. I do believe Accounting is a complex field and the student has to have an interest in the field to truly be successful in retaining what they are taught. While earning my Masters in Accounting, I voluntarily tutored Undergrad students that were earning their Associates or Bachelors in Accounting. The students were enrolled in the local community college (Central Carolina Tech) as well as the University of South Carolina. I have earned an Associates, Bachelors, and Masters which all have concentration in Accounting.

As a current PhD student desiring to teach at a college level, I am motivated to teach others the valuable skills that I possess. I have tutored college students over a month span and conducted training programs for over 250 employees at my past jobs. I have taught four staff members SAP Accounting system operations for the FI, MM, and GL modules. I have been fortunate to enjoy accounting work experience mixed with training opportunities to empower staff and work efficiency. My teaching style is to provide verbal and written aids to students. I like to provide numerous examples and then allow students to complete a problem on their own. I am very patient and understand that my purpose is to provide assistance to my students and that my student's success is a reflection of me.

Over the past few months I have been involved with substitute teaching in Richland School District 2. Since being involved I have gotten very much involved in every aspect of teaching. I have been requested at serveral of the district schools because of the way I respond to being in the classroom and working with children of age grades and ages. I am very excited about being in the schools on a daily basis and plan to take things a step further and pursue a full time teaching position in the upcoming school through an accrediated university program. I feel as though I am highly qualified and competitive for a teaching position because of my abilities to relate to children of all ages. As a volunteer basketball referee at Northside Baptist Church, Upward basketball program since 1998, I work with children between the ages of 7 and 13. I teach them about basketball and sportsmanship.

I believe that effective teaching is comprised of two necessary and related elements: knowledge of the content and ability to communicate it. Knowing the material is not enough to be effective in teaching it; likewise, communication skills won't work alone. Thus, I take care to understand the concepts I expect to cover and to make them understandable to the students. I organize my presentations with the student's learning in mind and keep my knowledge up to date. My teaching allows students to learn by doing by having them work on problems and cases that allow them to evaluate alternatives and to arrive at answers logically.
