I am a behavioral specialist with 12 years of experience working with individuals between the ages of 2 and 19 who have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, Traumatic Brain Injury, emotional disturbance, Autism, Downs Syndrome, and other developmental disorders. This is what I love doing, and I have the patience to reteach in multiple ways over multiple days. Over the past 5 years I have taught English Language Arts to sixth graders, and tutored in all 6th grade subject areas while using positive reinforcement to enhance productivity. In September, I will be sitting for the certification exam to become a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA). I believe that everyone can learn and everyone has their strengths. I began my professional debut as a free-lance editorial artist in 1992, while the national election raged on between then-president George H.W. Bush, Ross Perot and a young fellow from Arkansas, Bill Clinton. My caricatures loomed through the pages of the Salinas Californian for about two (2) years. At about the same time, I was a contributing artist for our church's newspaper, Maranatha. I have had the honor in having my caricatures displayed in the Houston Astroworld Six Flags amusement park before they closed their doors. I love teaching in a one-on-one environment. I think that this environment makes it easier for teachers to be empathetic towards learning blockades. Last year I trained at a writing center on my university's campus and this experience refined my academic skills and my patience for learning.
