A Little Bit About Me...

I have a non-teaching BA degree in English. I spent all 4 college years working on my college newspaper, and two years after graduation working for a local newspaper. My job responsibilities included covering news and local functions, and then writing news and feature stores. I also helped proof read submitted articles for publication. I have always had above average skills in spelling and grammar. In addition, although I have no formal degree, I spent over 20 years teaching private piano lessons on a one-on-one basis. After school, I would go to each students house and work with them for approximately 30-45 minutes.

I take the necessary time to learn the behavior and learning ability of the child in order to customize a teaching style that will be most beneficial. I believe that the most effective type of relationship between a teacher and a student is friendship to reduce any anxieties that may otherwise hinder the child’s progress. I am an educator of over 15 years. My area of expertise is English/Language Arts and my primary audience over much of my teaching career has been average to advanced students in grades 7-12. I have, however, successfully taught elementary school students and members of the "at-risk" population.
