Every student is different, therefore every student has different needs. Every student also can learn differently, whether it be by incorporating more or less visual learning strategies, auditory learning strategies, or using more of the "hands on" approach. Learning can be and should be fun! I love teaching a student to success and when they enjoy what they are doing they are much more likely to succeed!

I have been teaching for 25 years. I began as a high-school teacher, taught grade school and special education, and then spent 20 years as a university professor of English and philosophy. I started tutoring as a graduate student and have been doing it on and off now for 20 years.

As a very creative person myself, I strive to bring that creativity to my teaching. I am always looking for new and exciting ways to present a lesson to my students. I believe students should be fully engaged in what they are learning as often as possible, and not just passively listening to a lecture. I believe a great teacher needs to have proper skills and talents for teaching. I learned a lot while growing up from a great teacher; my mother. My mother was a teacher for thirty years teaching elementary grades. I learned a great teacher needs to be respectful, patient and to be able to illustrate the lesson in an easy, simple way. I try to provide simple analogies for each concept. This enables the student to grasp the concept easier and faster. I have taken quite a few upper level courses that many students may find difficult in their collegiate years. I took General Chemistry I & II, Organic Chemistry I & II, College Physics I & II, Human Physiology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Calculus I, Histology, General Biology, Pathophysiology, and Genetics to name a few. I come from a heavy science background and have been tutoring students since Junior year of high school. I have also completed several research projects at my undergraduate institution.
