Every student is different, therefore every student has different needs. Every student also can learn differently, whether it be by incorporating more or less visual learning strategies, auditory learning strategies, or using more of the "hands on" approach. I have been teaching for 25 years. I began as a high-school teacher, taught grade school and special education, and then spent 20 years as a university professor of English and philosophy. I started tutoring as a graduate student and have been doing it on and off now for 20 years.
I like working with grade-school students, but I like best a variety of teaching situations. That for me truly represents the challange of teaching. I truly believe in education and it’s one of the top foundations of good citizen. I love children and I feel sorry for children who have difficulties in their studies. I am sensitive to the needs of children that I can easily adapt to their needs. Children have different background and learning capabilities, I consider these factors in my teaching. I believe a great teacher needs to have proper skills and talents for teaching. I learned a lot while growing up from a great teacher; my mother. My mother was a teacher for thirty years teaching elementary grades. I learned a great teacher needs to be respectful, patient and to be able to illustrate the lesson in an easy, simple way. Students must be challenged, not coddled. Students at all levels need to be pushed to find their limits and then move beyond them. Only then can they achieve real growth. We must use education as a tool to educate the next generation not only for employment but also for citizenship. In so doing, we need to take into account historical precedents and objective reality.
