I enjoy teaching children of all ages. Being a tutor and substitute teacher has provided me the opportunity to see so much growth and potential that children have. I believe everyone has opportunity to do their best and I always stay positive to encourage them to try. If a child is about to give up trying, I encourage them to take a short break, then try again. My first tutoring experience actually began when I was a high school senior and tutored ESL students at South High School. Since then I have worked in a summer program tutoring elementary ESL students, gone on to graduate with degrees in English and Environmental Studies, and most recently, worked as an Americorps member at Andersen Elementary and Open in Minneapolis. My primary role at Andersen was tutoring elementary students (mostly 5th grade) in math and reading. I also have some experience in teaching ecology at a couple of environmental learning centers. A Little Bit About Me...

As a recent college graduate, I know how to work hard. I earned a bachelor degree, BS in Marine Biology from UC Santa Cruz, where I took many science and math classes. I do not have any experience in tutoring, but I have been a mentor to kids in other jobs I have had.
In the job I had where I mentored kids, it was a program called Lil Kickers. This program was for kids 3-10 years old where they were taught how to listen to instructions and communicate with one another.
