My comments on tutoring Logic : I took two classes at UTEP about logic.

I started working as a computer programmer. Then I became a computer operator/programmer using a main frame computer. I was in charge of all computer operations and I was also assigned programming projects. I also did a great deal of program testing and documentation. I also worked as a tutor at community college.
I let students asks all the questions they want if for some reason I don't have the answer I will look it up.

Graduated from Vanderbilt U. on an AEC Fellowship and taught physics lab while earning an MS/physics. Graduate of University of Texas on a scholarship and tutored several students in calculus and physics while earning a BS in physics/math. Have taught high school physics and community college astronomy here in El Paso, Texas. Recently published a philosophy book, three physics books, a mathematics book and a poetry book. Hold a patent on a device which replaces the dying clock battery existing in all personal computers. Have held security clearances from Army, Air Force and Nuclear Energy Commission.
I love to see a student's eyes light up when they understand a key concept in either physics or mathematics. I do well tutoring either one on one or a small group of students. I am very patient and I will go the extra mile to ensure that a student understands.

A Little Bit About Me...

I'm not going to lie; I hated school when I was younger. Some people might think this a drawback when hiring someone as a tutor, but I think it has made me more sympathetic to students who struggle, who don't enjoy school and who need someone to give them a reason to excel. I also can inspire students who are modivated and open up new worlds to them and make learning fun. I love reading and writing, history and theatre, art and science and everything else in between. The world is open and bright for everyone, especially those who wish to learn.
I've worked numerous jobs, none of which were fulfilling except the ones where I worked with children, particularly students who were troubled or had learning disabilities. I was a theatre major in college, so you might be quick to think I was a flake or someone who just coasted by through college, but I graduated with a 3.7 GPA, receiv ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My experience as a tutor has made me realize how much I enjoy tutoring. Science is my passion and I like sharing the knowledge that I have with those who need a little bit more help in. I feel that as I teach in my own style, I can better explain and help students see the topics/ideas in a different way, as I see it, to help them understand it and apply it better. I believe that no one can truly master something until they can teach it to others. Nothing has given me more satisfaction than when a student returns to me because they appreciate my patience and style of teaching to further help them along their courses. Yet, nothing makes me happier to see them succeed on a test score or on their grade in that course overall.
I'm currently attending UTEP, I will graduate in Dec. 2010 in Electrical engineering as well as receiving an Associate of Arts degree from EPCC. I worked for a ... read more

I ascribe to Gardner's 8 Stages of Intelligence theory, which purports the belief that every student is gifted, intelligent and capable of learning in a manner that conducive to their own unique style. As a teacher, I use myself as a tool to help facilitate the learning process.
I have a social work background which, in my work has always been integrated with some component of teaching, both in and out of the classroom. Through my experience as a tutor I learned that each student is different. I strive to recognize that difference and use it to emphasize learning strategies. I provided customized teaching for each student based on their prior mathematical knowledge and progress. As a tutor my goal is to expand student’s abilities in logical, abstract, and scientific thinking and to promote deeper understanding and farther exploration of the subject. I motivate students to be proactive in their math courses. I think that the best tutoring is when you can put a student on their own feet in the shortest amount of time; where student would not require your help any longer but understands how to learn efficiently and productively on their own.
I recently graduated with BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering. While in school I worked as a tutor for 2 years. I tutored college students in mathematics a ... read more

My teaching style is very flexible. Because I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults, the ability to adapt to the learner's ability level is especially important. Not all people learn at the exact pact, therefore, flexibility is essential as well as non traditional teaching methods. Some non traditional teaching methods I have applied include interpreting math problems through real life situations. I find that some kids will relate to NBA references while others prefer food examples. Either way, it keeps the child interested which is the key role of a good tutor.
Although I listed only 2 years of prior instruction, I have taught over 5 years of business/finance related material. On a school level basis, I personally have a child with ADHD that I tutor at home. I am especially proficient in English/Language Arts. No two people are alike, so my teaching style is to find out what a person's style of understanding is, and to frame my teaching around that. Some people need to hear it out loud, some need to write, some need a picture. In whichever case, I consider the material to be learned once the student can explain it back to me.
I worked as a research assistant at Arizona State University until I graduated with my Bachelor's Degrees in psychology. This allowed me a great deal of hands on experience in applying mathematical and scientific principles in gathering data and doing statistical regressions. I have also worked as tutor independently for about the last 5 years, primarily in math and science for high school and college student. i have also helped with test prep for sat and ASVAB.

Use of a veriety visual, auditive and kinesthetic media to present material all learner types, plus a varied approach to reach students withe different learning abilities 5. Use of technology (computers, the internet and games) to reach students
