Above all, I make sure what we're learning is relevant to the student and is based off their interests-- not random and isolated. What sticks is what they care about and find interesting.
I have 20+ years as a highly qualified educator and I still have tons of energy and passion for teaching. I'm friendly, sometimes a little goofy, non-judgmental, and I have a special place in my heart for young folks who struggle in school. My comments on tutoring Grammar : My grammar has been set in my brain by my mother, and that map is still alive and growing. Perceived social status is often affected by a person's grammar. Knowledge regarding the best use of grammatical forms is often the point at which top notch jobs in the fields of journalism or reporting are gained or lost.

Multiple ways of presenting material; musically, visually, building models, finding answers by testing a hypothesis; experimenting, measuring, observing, seeing, touching.
Teaching middle school and high school science from 1983 to 2004, including every science subject listed in the TutorSelect list. I have worked as an educational consultant for national science laboratories, helping them train their scientists to work better in the school classrooms where they volunteer. I have worked for museums and for outdoor education programs, but have found the most satisfaction as a classroom teacher with all kinds of students. I have worked teaching teachers, but they were very difficult students.

I enjoy helping others and believe that teaching is a constant learning experience for the teacher/ tutor as well as the student. If at any point I reach a topic that I have not used in some time, I am willing to purchase a textbook or topic material in order to refresh myself, to better help the student. In most cases, I prefer to purchase material for myself in advance, so I am prepared for the student prior to meeting.
As a graduate from New Mexico Tech, I believe my education to be advanced and very useful. NMT has very high expectations for its students, and demands an obscene amount of drive and focus.
