As an education major at Berea College, I volunteered my services as a tutor three nights a week in addition to my student teaching and education courses. I was also a Pre-Kindergarten teacher during the summer terms while I was in college. I am certified to teach all subjects grades K-5. I have my masters degree in Reading and Literacy Instruction. I currently teach Pre-Kindegarten in Lexington.
I love to learn, which is why I love teaching children. Every child learns differently, because of this, teaching is a learning process as well! I believe that students learn best through hands on activities that allow them to internalize the concepts they are struggling with. Whether it is using math manipulatives to understand multiplication and division or using letter tiles to understand consonant blends in reading, hands on activities are the best way to learn.

I want to make a difference in a child's life. To help them understand and know the subject matter they are not understanding.I use many techniques to help a child learn. First learning should be fun, which I try to create for the child. I present the subject in a creative way to help the student be motivated and engaging. I have been teaching privately and in select groups for 8 years now. Have experience as a pianist since age 4, and an experienced guitarist and vocalist for 10 years. Have been through many years of lessons and competitions relating to performance and hav also participated in 2 years of marching and concert band as a 1st chair trumpet player. I stem from a very musical family, and my mother owned a music studio for 20 years teaching and my father is a retired band director of 32 years, having MUCH success with State Championships. I love children of all ages. I am very patient and laid back. I am kind, and considerate of others.
