Classical painting and drawing teacher

I have been painting for over ten years, first earning my degree from Centre College and later studying classical drawing and painting in New York City at the Grand Central Academy of Art. Since returning to Kentucky, I have been working from my studio in Mount Sterling and exhibiting my work throughout central Kentucky. I have been teaching private and group classes, focusing on master copies and portrait and still-life drawing. I have tutored privately, helping to build student's portfolios as they apply to college or other art programs (such as the Governor's School for the Arts). A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style involves what the student wants to achieve out of my teachings. For example i ask the students during their first lesson, "What musical groups and styles inspire you?" This way I can get a feel for what they are looking for. I also do from beginner to advanced theory techniques with notation, playing with a metronome, flash cards, etc. Teaching is a HUGE part of my life and i couldn't be easier to get along with. Love working with all ages, especially the little ones considering i love to be a role model to them. As an education major at Berea College, I volunteered my services as a tutor three nights a week in addition to my student teaching and education courses. I was also a Pre-Kindergarten teacher during the summer terms while I was in college. I am certified to teach all subjects grades K-5. I have my masters degree in Reading and Literacy Instruction.
