Have taught at the high school level for the past 10 years. I have served as a tutor at the high school and college levels for the past four years. I have my Master's in Education and have a degree in Mathematics as well. I have taught levels of math ranging from 8th grade math, all the way up to college level calculus and statistics. I love the application of math and finding the "why" in what is that most people struggle with math.
I like to take concepts and apply them to topics and fields that you are interested in. Math can be applied so many different ways, and when that connection is made at a personal level, it makes it that much more relevant.

In May of 2009 I graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biology and Chemistry. During my undergraduate career I worked a semester as a Supplemental Instruction Leader. My position required me to help further students understanding of Molecular and Cellular Biology. After I received my degree I spent a summer teaching Chemistry, Biology, and Physics to under-priviledged high school students for the Upward Bound program at The University of South Dakota. I have worked with children of all ages and enjoy helping them learn. I realize that everyone does not learn at the same speed and am very patient and understanding. I believe that all children have the right to a quality education and over the years have spent as much time as I could helping any child that needed that extra one-on-one. Each child has their own unique personality and a teacher's approach needs to be fit to that student's needs. Learning is fun and all children deserve the chance to learn.

I believe that children learn best when they are given confidence and support in every step they take. It can be a frustrating time for them and they need to know that they have everything they need to be successful and to learn a new skill. Patience, trust and understanding are vital to a child wanting to learn and be open to trying new things. A Little Bit About Me...

I worked as the department tutor for a first semester calculus based physics course at my university. I also graded undergraduate physics homework for second semester calculus based physics. Throughout my undergraduate education, I worked as a research during the summer and post graduation, I spent continued school for a year as a graduate student. Then I took a year off to see the world as a consultant. Now I'm planning on going back to school full time in the fall for electrical engineering and am currently getting taking a few courses part time to prepare me for the return.
I try to present a concept or fact in several different ways so that I can resonate with the students thinking style.
