I adapt my style to whatever suits the student the best. I will work hard to help the student relate to the material in a personal way, so that it is meaningful to them rather than simple memorization. My goal is to help the person become an independent and critical thinker; skills that are not generally taught, but are crucial for their future success. I then search for a passion, and then use that passion to teach any other subjects they may be deficient in. Each student requires a different approach at different times. Sometimes a documentary will be the best way to convey an idea or find something that may excite them. Pouring over texts and solving hundreds of math problems will not help someone *CARE* about what they are learning, or help them understand *WHY* it is important that they know something.

I got my first teaching experience as a lab instructor for undergraduate physics labs and fell in love with the profession. No two students are the same which is why it is so important to have a flexible teaching style. My first lesson is usually spent analyzing a students attention level, skill level, and learning style. Some students learn through repetition, others like lots of different examples, and there are always a few who want to know why and how something works, eg. theory, proofs, and real world applications. I like to try a lot of different things and see what works with an individual. I have also taught middle and high school students, so I have also learned how to teach in an entertaining way.
