I like explain the problem to the students and then let them work on few problems on their own. I would then correct the problems that the students were working on and ask if they need any questions. If the students have questions or if they did not get the right answer I would then go over the problems together with the students and have them practice until they have the strategy down.
I have been working for a local High School for 3 years now as an instructional assistant. Currently I have 3 math classes. I have 2 pre-algebra classes and one geometry. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent graduate of Fordham University, where I majored in Film Studies and minored in Visual Arts. During my time there I honed my skills in painting, graphic design, filmmaking and writing (both creative and academic). Recently I worked with the Tribeca Film Institute on the Tribeca Teaches program, coordinating the in class production of seven short documentaries made by middle and high school students in the South Bronx and Brooklyn that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. In the process of earning my BA in History (minor in Archaeology), I became familiar with a broad range of historical subjects. My certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) gave me a familiarity with mathematics and statistics, as well as conventions of scientific research and reporting. A Little Bit About Me...

My approach when teaching children is child centered. The activities I provde are needs driven and geared toward the child experiencing success as he works to increse skills in the target area. I teach the child to use strategies which will help him in the area of organization and learning. When appropriate, I encourage the child to use calming techniques or engage the child in activities to promote alertness, the assist the child in focusing on the activity at hand.
I have taught pre-school and elementary school in Canada and in the USA. I have taught French K-8. I have worked with adults with disabilities in a habiliitation setting. I have worked as a COTA in the school districts where I provided OT services for students with disabilities, aged 4-21.
